Electric vs Gas Zero-Turn Mowers
Have you ever considered an electric lawn mower? John Deere recently released its first-ever electric zero-turn lawn mower, the Z370R Electric ZTrak. The Z370R is comparable to the normal, gas-powered zero-turns in the John Deere residential line-up in terms of performance and durability, but let’s go over some key differences that make it so great.
The all-new John Deere Electric ZTrak
If you’ve been looking for a mower that does it all and is electric, we’ve got you covered! John Deere now offers the new Z370R Electric ZTrak for those who are environmentally conscious or would like to save on gas.
The Z370R Electric ZTrak features the capability to mow up to 2 Acres per charge, a 3.2kWh sealed lithium-ion battery, and a 42-in. mower deck. This mower releases zero operating emissions, has no engine noise, and can be charged with a standard extension cord! With Smart Charge Technology, there is no overcharging, and battery life can be maintained a lot longer.
There is very little maintenance when it comes to the Z370R. You don’t have to worry about changing the engine oil and air filters, nor do you have to worry about belts and grease points. Just make sure the blades are properly sharpened and the battery is charged, then you’re good to go.
Another cool feature of this mower is the Go Home mode. This allows you to return to the charging outlet when the battery nears depletion. You will not have to worry about being stranded with a dead battery.
John Deere ZTrak Mowers
Electric mowers not your thing? You can’t go wrong with the traditional gas-powered zero-turn mower. John Deere has three different series of residential zero-turn mowers, so finding the perfect fit for your needs is simple.
The Z300 Series has the smallest models but is powerful enough to mow up to 4 acres. There are several different model options in this series that come with a 42-in., 48-in., or 54-in. Accel Deep mower deck.
The Z500 Series is a fan favorite. The models in this series are built with efficiency-focused features that help you get done in no time. With the option of a 48-in., 54-in., or 60-in. mower deck and an improved cut height selector, this mower can tackle any turf.
The Z700 Series is perfect for those with larger yards and doesn’t want to waste all day cutting grass. This series can mow 8+ acres and up to 10 mph, so you can get done fast. Each mower features a High-Capacity PRO deck that is either 48-in., 54-in., or 60-in. depending on the model you choose.
With these gas-powered mowers, it is important to service them regularly. There are different filters, belts, grease points, etc. that you want to make sure are in proper condition when utilizing the mower. Improper care can cause rapid wear and tear that can potentially be avoided.
On the plus side, there is no waiting around to charge your mower if you forget. Just make sure your lawn mower is full of gas and you’re all set!
Ultimately, the choice is yours! Both the gas-powered and battery-powered mowers do a great job of completing the tasks in a fast and efficient way.
