New Year New Equipment

With the new year right around the corner, people are beginning to make resolutions that might require new equipment. If you are a first-time equipment buyer, we are here to help with some tips to remember when you start shopping.

  1. 1. Consider your to-do list
When you are beginning to think about what kind of equipment you need, think about what kind of work you are trying to accomplish. The answer will help you determine which equipment is best for you and your property.
  2. 2. Know your property type
The type of land you have is a crucial factor in selecting the right piece of equipment. When considering the number of acres you have, the 1 Series sub-compacts and 2 Series compacts are great options for managing a few acres. The 3 Series can easily handle 3 – 5 acres, while the 4 Series tractors can comfortably manage 10 – 12 acres. Some questions to consider are how much property am I trying to maintain? Is the terrain easy or uneven?
  3. 3. Consider Storage and Transportaiton
Storing your equipment is essential for making sure your equipment lasts a long time. Considering what you have to transport your equipment if you need it moved will play a significant factor in what size your equipment needs to be.
  4. 4. Horsepower. Horsepower. Horsepower.
The horsepower you will need will depend on your daily routine and the things you would like to accomplish. John Deere offers a wide range of equipment with horsepower ranging from 22.4 with the one series and going all the way up to 65.9 with the four series. So understanding the strength you need will factor in your decision, so you don’t make the mistake of getting less than what you need.

Most importantly, remember that your salesman is there to help you figure out what is best for you, so be honest and open about your needs, property size, and the workload you plan to tackle with your equipment. We are here for you for all your equipment needs.
